The food and grocery industry is growing, with jobs to suit everyone. Students aged 16+ can join the Institute of Grocery Distribution (IGD)’s virtual work experience week taking place on the 26th to 30th July where they will meet with industry professionals, hear their stories, ask their advice and pitch them their ideas!
This sector employs 1 in 7 people in the UK and continues to grow at scale
The week features professionals from over 10 retailers and manufacturers, from CEO to apprentice, with daily masterclasses providing insight into Sales & Marketing, Engineering, Technology, and preparation for interviews and early careers programmes
With many skills shortages within the industry, IGD want to show the breadth of opportunity this huge sector has to offer. Participating companies include Tesco, Asda, Pepsi-Co, KP Snacks and Compass to name a few!
As well as learning about these types of careers, young people (16+) will develop their employability skills through the interactive daily sessions and hands-on projects!
Led by the facilitator, participants will have the opportunity to take part in activities and post questions for the professionals during each masterclass, running 10.30-12.00 each day
Projects include creating a new plant based snacking product & marketing campaign, developing a more sustainable packaging solution for strawberries and using an emerging or existing technology to overcome an in-store customer challenge
As well as a certificate of participation, each participant will receive personalised feedback on their project.
