Independent Retailer three years in succession. Michèle even bagged the title of “Inspiring Independent” in 2020 following her innovative approach to successfully steering her business through a very stormy year.

Drapers has been the leading authority on fashion retailing in the UK since 6 August 1887.

The awards celebrate the achievements of the very best independent fashion retailers from across the UK and Ireland, and the bestselling brands that make them so successful. This prestigious event is one of the most admired and highly respected within the fashion industry.

Mish caters to the needs of women who require larger cup sized bras and swimwear without ever compromising on style, fit and support, and are now one of the top go-to places in the South West for lingerie, seeing ladies traveling from as far afield as Bath and Gloucester for their in-shop fitting service and extensive range of bras.

Alongside her lingerie business, Michèle regularly speaks at events, acts as an advisor, mentors start-up businesses and runs workshops. She is also the co-founder of the highly regarded business consultancy agency Retail Fixers whose clients include Cornwall’s Unlocking Potential and Cultivator.

As we emerge from the third national lockdown, Michèle hopes to hit the ground running and is looking forward to offering the high standard of service that her loyal customers have become so accustomed to. Whilst she prepares her shop to suit COVID guidelines, she has introduced an innovative virtual bra fitting service and is embarking on a whole new website build alongside other exciting projects.

Not one to sit back, Michèle tirelessly gave her time during the first lockdown and orchestrated a team of volunteers to make 2000 scrubs and 4000 face masks for NHS keyworkers. Her efforts raised over £14,000 and alongside two other Mish staff members they collected and delivered the scrubs straight to the people who needed them the most around Cornwall.

On being asked to be a judge for Drapers, Michèle says: “Despite the turbulent year we’ve just had, my business is in a good place and I’m so honoured that I’ve been asked to be part of the Drapers Judging Panel. I know first hand what winning those awards means – though anyone who has managed to steer their businesses through such rough times deserves an award in my opinion! I’m so thrilled to be able to offer my expertise and honour other thriving businesses.”
